Overview
Palm acid oil (PAO) is a by-product obtained from the refining of palm oil. Palm Acid Oil specifications contain mainly of Free Fatty Acid (FFA) up to 50% and neutral oil, with 2-3% moisture and other impurities. It is similar to palm fatty acid distillate, however FFA is generally lower in palm acid oil compare to palm fatty acid distillate. It is used for making laundry soaps and for producing calcium soaps for animal feed formulations.
Uses
Palm Acid oil is a common cooking ingredient in the tropical belt of Africa, Southeast Asia and parts of Brazil. Its use in the commercial food industry in other parts of the world is widespread because of its lower cost and the high oxidative stability (saturation) of the refined product when used for frying.
